I-PEX CABLINE 20453, 20496, 20320 and 20373 series comparison

I-PEX CABLINE Series Selection Guide: 20453, 20496, 20320 and 20373

I-PEX does not sell one “CABLINE connector” — it sells a family of sub-series, each tuned to a different pitch, height and pin count. The part number on your drawing tells you which one you are dealing with, and mixing them up is the most common source of footprint errors.

The common sub-series at a glance

SeriesPitch classTypical pin countsWhere it fits
204530.5 mm30Standard LVDS/eDP panel links, good balance of cost and assembly yield
204960.3 mm26–40Very tight board space, thin tablets and compact camera modules
203200.5 mm50High-density panels and multi-lane links
20373fine pitch20MIPI camera modules, FPV and embedded vision
20454 / 20455fine pitch30–40Low-profile variants; confirm height against your stack-up

How to read the part number

The prefix is the series, the middle number is the pin count, and the suffix encodes the plating, packaging and mating height. Two connectors that look identical in a photo can have different mated heights. Always order against the full part number, not the series name.

Selection order that avoids rework

  1. Fix the interface first. LVDS, eDP and MIPI have different lane counts and impedance requirements.
  2. Match the panel connector. The panel side is usually fixed; the cable side must mate with it.
  3. Check the mated height against the enclosure stack-up, including cable bend.
  4. Confirm the cable gauge the connector accepts — 40–46 AWG is typical for micro coax.
  5. Lock the pin map and shield drain with the panel datasheet.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering by series name only, then receiving the wrong height variant.
  • Assuming a 0.3 mm connector accepts the same cable gauge as a 0.5 mm one.
  • Forgetting that the shield drain path must reach the connector shell, or EMI performance collapses.

Our I-PEX micro coaxial range covers the 20453, 20496, 20320, 20373 and 20455 families, and we can cross-check the exact suffix before quoting.

FAQ

Is 20453 compatible with 20454? They are different sub-series. Do not assume interchangeability without checking footprint and height.

Which series is best for a 0.3 mm design? The 20496 class, provided your panel mates with it and your assembly house can terminate the finer gauge.

Can you build small quantities? Yes — low MOQ and samples are accepted, typically 3–5 days for prototype assemblies.

Need help choosing? Send your panel or connector part number and we will confirm the mating series, pin count and cable construction before you cut a PO. Request engineering support or see our custom cable assembly capabilities.
